I was blown away by the beauty of Marlsgate Plantation in Scott, Arkansas! When Lana told me she wanted to book her bridal session here, I was so excited to finally see the interior and the grounds. The versatility of this location is unbelievable. There were such a variety of spots for indoor and outdoor shots. It gave the bridal session an elegant, classic look while also incorporating the gorgeous greens and florals of the gardens.

The Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock, AR is a gorgeous place for an engagement session or a bridal session. The bright white marble and golden accents provide a classic and beautiful background. This lovely bride wore a stunning wedding dress by Vera Wang. This session was an hour session split into a 30 minute bridal session and a 30 minute engagement session.

This Christmas themed wedding was so beautiful. Hannah, the bride, created many of the decorative pieces herself! The touches of evergreen and pine along with the red roses and silver glitter brought the warmth, glitz, and happiness of Christmas.

Family Session - Conway, AR - Hendrix College

3/15/2018

Fall and spring are two of the best times for family photos. The air is cool and either the flowers are blooming or the leaves are bright and colorful.

We had a blast photographing this family session!

Even though toddlers can be a bit challenging to photograph, we followed Sophia around, played, and captured some authentic, fun photos of this adorable, loving family in Conway, AR.

When working with kids, we like to let them run some of the show. Kids usually don't want to sit still. Having a session with lots of movement and fun things to see keeps them happy and lets their natural personalities shine in the photos. It's nice to have some family photos that look real and unposed, as well as some posed shots. We try to incorporate both of those concepts into our family sessions.

Hendrix College has a lovely campus with lots of beautiful plants, ivy, and even a fountain! It's a great spot for family sessions.

If you are interested in booking an Arkansas family session with us, fill out the contact form or send an email to jessica@whimsicalmoonbeam.com.

We even got to meet some baby chicks that had recently hatched! Kristen looked totally gorgeous in her gown from Low's Bridal and Formal in Brinkley, Arkansas.

Wedding Wednesday Planning Tip - Choosing Your Venue

9/29/2017

Before choosing your venue, it's important to think about how many guests you plan on inviting. Although you might not think that you are inviting THAT MANY guests, once you sit down with your partner and being listing out all the people you want to invite, it can be quite a large list. Don't forget about all the +1, 2, or even 3 or more people a guest might bring, such as their children or significant others.

If you have a dream wedding venue in mind, and you only want to have your wedding there, make sure your guest list reflects the amount of guests the place will hold. The venue coordinator should know how many guests the venue will hold or even allow. You may have to cut the guest list depending on the amount the venue will hold.

Thinking about an estimate of 25 to 30 square feet per guest can help you think about how much room you would need for tables, dancing, etc. Don't forget to ask your venue how many guests it can comfortably accommodate.

Wedding Wednesday - How do you choose your wedding colors?

9/21/2017

Wedding Wednesday Planning Tip - How do you choose your wedding colors?

1. Think about the setting.
Is your venue rustic, classic, or urban? Is your venue full of light, more moody, or showcasing natural elements?

With a venue full of white and light, adding in a bright color pop like hot pink or royal blue to offset the walls would give your wedding a nice touch. If you are looking for more of a sophisticated feel in a classic venue, adding in some maroon, gold, black, or gray would give the wedding a polished, formal feel.

If you want to incorporate a rustic vibe into your wedding, you could choose gold or brown as a base color and another bright or pastel color as a complement, such as mint, turquoise, or peach.

2.Think about the season.
Do you want to incorporate the seasonal colors of your wedding day by adding some rosy, pastel colors for spring or jeweled tones for winter?

3.Think about your favorite colors.
Do you have a certain color that makes you super happy and always surrounds you? Is a certain color significant to you? This might be a great color for your bridesmaids dresses or ties for your groomsmen.

4.Think about the mood you want to create for your big day.
Do you want to cast a warm glow over your day by adding some gold or sparkles? Do you want a polished, classic affair by adding in clean, brights like white or cream? Google some color swatches and think about how certain colors make you feel. Do you want these colors surrounding you on your big day? Are your chosen colors helping to establish a mood?

5. Think about what the colors represent.
Colors often have psychological representations. If you are still struggling with choosing a color, you might want to think about your relationship, important values, or the feel of your wedding and work from one of those representations.
For example:
red can represent love, passion, power, strength, and luck
yellow can represent joy, hope, happiness, sunshine, and summer
green can represent good luck, nature, youth, and fertility
blue can represent peace, harmony, stability, and unity
purple can represent wisdom, royalty, spirituality, and ceremony
orange can represent energy, warmth, vitality, and autumn
gray can represent dignity, maturity, safety, and stability
brown can represent earth, reliability, simplicity, and comfort
white can represent marriage, peace, youth, and humility
black can represent sophistication, wealth, power, elegance, and formality

Once you pin down a vibe and a favorite color, you can consult the color wheel or Pinterest for some color options that will go great with your primary color choice.
